After years of planning to either restore or demolish this once proud symbol of Owensboro, it's seems that a decision has been made.

City officials have made the decision to implode the building. The exact date of the demolition has yet be revealed but officials are saying "before the year is over".

Built in the early '60s and opened to the public in November of 1963, Gabe's Motor Inn was the hippest place in town in the 1960's and '70s. It was designed by the late local architect R. Ben Johnson for local legend Gabe Fiorella, Sr. (1900-1977).

Currently there are no plans for future developments on this property.
