As of October 1, 2017 all cats must be leashed due to the federal law enacted. Because to the large colonies of wild cats and the danger to native birds, they will now be require to be leashed or confined to a secured enclosure. HSUS stated that all loose cats will be captured and humanly euthanized if the owner can not be found. HSUS spokesperson stated that if dogs can be confined so can cats. 1st offence is $100 for cats running at large and can lead to jail sentence for repeat offenders.
