In an exclusive interview with TrendNews, up-and-coming Korean boyband The Boyz disclosed previously untold information about the members’ relationships with each other, how they survive dorm life in a house of twelve, and more. Member Q cheerfully described his hilarious interactions with roommate New, while Kevin told us about the struggles of maintaining an art blog through his near-ubiquity. However, one story beyond all others shocked everyone on the TrendNews team.
While discussing how they were recruited into the group, The Boyz’ leader and eldest, Sangyeon, mentioned, “Eric’s story is probably the strangest out of all of ours” (rough translation). Member Hwall chimed in with a “Yes, it’s really an odd one.” We asked Eric to share his story but, according to the other members, the youngest has no memory of his shocking recruitment story. Sangyeon, proving himself to be a capable leader, once again took the reins.
“Eric was actually the last member to join our team,” the leader recalled, a reminiscent look in his eyes. “The entire group was in LA for a week to enjoy a bit of freedom before we made our official debut.” The Boyz had their official debut in December of 2017 and, according to Sangyeon, Eric was recruited in early October. “We were all walking to a restaurant for dinner when we passed an alleyway next to what seemed to be an abandoned electronics store.”
“It was a GameStop,” Jacob supplied helpfully.
Sangyeon thanked the other, then continued to explain the fascinating story to TrendNews staff. “As we were walking by, we heard this... growling noise?” He scratches his chin. “We thought maybe it was a puppy or something, and the younger members-“ he paused to ruffle member Sunwoo’s hair, much to the latter’s chagrin- “couldn’t bear to walk by without checking on it.”
Member Younghoon took over from here. “As we walked further into the alley, it got to be harder to see. All of the sudden, this incredibly loud voice yelled, ‘Growlithe!’ We looked down and saw this scrawny kid doing somersaults across the alley.”
“He seemed pretty shaken up,” Sunwoo interjected. “When we looked it up, the GameStop had been closed for months. We don’t know how long he was out there, that poor thing,” he said, Juyeon nodding solemnly next to him.
“We took him back to the hotel and fed him some dinosaur nuggets,” Younghoon continued. “After that, he healed up pretty fast.”
The members finished their tale by emphasizing how much they loved having Eric as a member of the team and how fiercely loyal they were to each other as a group. Eric, who had remained silent throughout the story, happily joined in on the shouting of the band’s slogan. TrendNews then continued with the interview, which will be released at a later date.
Keep an eye out for The Boyz’ new single album, Bloom Bloom, coming soon. Thanks for reading TrendNews, your one-stop source for the latest in entertainment!
