GCH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, a Chihuahua- Poodle (or Chipoo) mix, won the best mixed breed category at this week's Westminster Dog Show in New York.
Owner Mara Flood and her 18-year-old daughter, Rebecca, have shown their dogs more than 500 times throughout the years, but Westminster is different.
“It’s the Super Bowl of dog shows,” says Mara Flood of Goshen. “To even compete there is so exciting.”
But don’t let the dogs know that. “We have to treat it like any dog show,” says Mara. “Dogs know when something is up and we don’t want to make them nervous.”
Two of the Floods’ dogs were among more than 2,900 dogs at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show representing 203 breeds competing for the ultimate top dog title: Best in Show.
