In Anaheim, Early Thursday morning, September 14, 2017, the Disneyland Monorail came to an abrupt hault when an 8 year olds (names undisclosed for identity purposes) fidget spinner flew on to the track. The tragedy started when 8 year old was waiting for his mother by the Lego store in downtown Disney. When he threw his fidget spinner up onto the track. It stayed there, like a baseball on a roof, until suddenly the train came roaring down the track. With one simple slip the train lost control.
Hundreds watched in horror. One guest at the staying at Disney's Grand Californian saw the whole thing from her window, "There was a loud BOOM, so I looked out my window only to witness the Monorail was derailed!"
Paramedics rushed to the scene. 12 passengers were injured & 8 dead on the scene, and 24 total never to be seen with a fidget spinner.
Police found the 8 year old fidget spinner child with his mother asking a Disney castmember to retrieve the toy. But by then it was too late.
No word on what the parks next move may be but we know it will still try to keep it's goal as "the happiest place on Earth."
