Beginning in 2020 public schools will no longer be free. Officials in several districts have agreed that attaching a fee to attend school will attract more qualified teachers and will also help with the cost of supplies, trips, minor repairs, etc.....The fee will be based on household incomes and households with multiple children will receive a discount. Lunch will continue to be free. One official has stated that the fee will encourage more parent involvement and that children will be able to get a better education due to better pay for teachers and the potential to be able to offer extra curricular activities based on merit. Grants will be available for households below the poverty level to insure that all children will be able to get a decent education.
