No one expected this to happen, including NCAA chief Men's Basketball coordinator, Joseph Rimfutello, who said this morning "This is just shocking absolutely shocking" In what can only e described as a shock move, never-before seen in NCAA men's basketball, on the very morning of their big game against in-state rival Marshal, WVU has decided to FORFEIT the game. Amazingly quiet on the move both WVU and Marshall head coaches could not be reached for comment but WVU assistant coach Pete Netsinko, was quoted as saying, "as a team we (WVU) came to this decision, because we wanted to do something historical here - it is Marshall's time, they have earned this and we don't want to stand in their way, we wish them much success and hope they make the championship game."

Having dropped out of the tournament now WVU will have to wait until next year to compete again - leaving the way paved for Marshall to move ahead into the sweet 16. Shocking to say the least. We will post updates throughout the day as this breaking story continues to unfold.
