Both towers of the Notre Dame cathedral “are safe,” said Laurent Nunez, French Secretary to the Interior Minister, hours after a massive fire toppled its spire, burned its roof, and threatened the centuries-old art and architecture inside.
For generations, Notre Dame has been a place of pilgrimage and prayer, and, even as religion in France has declined for decades, it remained the beating heart of French Catholicism, open every day for Mass.
The French Interior Ministry said 400 firefighters have been mobilized to deal with the Notre Dame blaze. The cathedral's iconic spire collapsed earlier this evening. However according to a recent Report by the police forces on the scene; The ongoing Fire endangering the historic Cathedral of Notre Dame, which was suspected to have been started accidentally in reconstruction efforts within the spire, is now suspect to be an act of Arson by a disgruntled Priest that had worked with the Clergy at Notre Dame for over 35 years.
Father Gregory Fonyx, 55, is the prime suspect in this case. Reports made by his peers quote that the Estranged Priest believed that the current morals of the church would lead to "Biblical Plagues" More information as it comes in.
