Tara Wardlaw a young women from Cohoes, New York, suffers from a rare autoimmune disease. “It’s called AAG, and stands for Autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy. Try saying that to doctors 10 times fast!” The disease, according to Dysautonomia International, is a very rare form of dysautonomia in which the bodies own immune system damages a receptor in the autonomic ganglia (part of the peripheral autonomic nerve fiber which controls the autonomic nervous system)
Tara says “In English, my body can’t do all the things one wouldn’t conciously think about, my stomach can’t digest food, so I rely on a feeding tube for my nutrition. I have neurogenic bladder and right now I have something called a Supra pubic catheter, which is a permanent catheter that comes out your lower abdomen and drains your bladder constantly into a bag. My body doesn’t regulate temperature well and I no longer sweat. I have issues maintaining normal heart rate and often become so tachycardic I faint.”
Those are just some of the issues plaguing the young women. At only 30 years old Tara’s full time job revolves around her medical care and multiple specialist appointments.
“Recently I connected with a celebrity I admire VERY much. His story and experiences are something I’ve been passionate about for a while.” Tara stated.
The two are set to collaborate on something to be released in the next week!
