The yearly February bike week has caused a feeling of uneasiness with residents in recent years. Arrests and police involved incidents have been on the rise, the majority of the reports are attributed to unruly behavior and assault. Now the Myrtle Beach council has raised concerns with the mounting costs of sanitation cleanup. 125 tons of litter was removed from the streets, inclusive of chicken bones, watermelon rinds and beer bottles. Estimates for the cleanup costs are at 1.5 million dollars, well above budgets sanitation costs. A council meeting will be held on October 12th to determine if this year’s rally is held.
