An upmarket coffee shop chain has unveiled plans to move into Aberdare.
Artigiano – a continental-style espresso establishment which transforms into a wine bar in the evenings – wants to open in two premises in South Wales.
It has submitted plans to Aberdare council to take over the empty commercial premises formerly the Boot Hotel.
As well as coffee, teas, juices and pastries, the chain – which currently has branches in London, Exeter, Reading and Cardiff– also sells a range of cocktails and craft beers, and hosts live acoustic music and DJ sessions in the evenings.
In a letter to Aberdare council planners, Artigiano’s Stephen Keough said: “We sometimes have local musicians in and this has worked well in Exeter, Cardiff and Reading.”
Coffee-brewing masterclasses
Mr Keough added that the Devon-based business wanted to be granted permission to hold comedy or quiz nights, show major sporting events such as rugby internationals or Wimbledon via a projector and even offer wine or craft beer tasting events.
Artigiano said it wants to undertake a complete refit of the inside of the property and also open up the first floor to customers.
The firm was unavailable for comment on Tuesday.
