Yves Saint Laurent's major new products
By Doug Newhouse, 31 July 2010
Yves Saint Laurent is heading up two major launches shortly with the addition of a new female fragrance to its portfolio called 'Belle d'Opium' and a new lipstick range called ROUGE PUR COUTURE.
'Belle d'Opium' is described as 'a woody modern oriental' fragrance with 'an overdose of beautiful, rare and precious ingredients that take extreme femininity to the limits of indecency. Mystery, Intoxication, Addiction'.
Meanwhile, ROUGE PUR COUTURE is a new range of luminous and satiny long lasting texture lipsticks which incorporate SPF15.
MORE DETAIL
YSL says that the new 'Belle d'Opium' fragrance incorporates the essences of spicy white flowers, Casablanca lily, stimulating gardenia and bitter and elegant mandarin. The company adds: "What it reminds you of... the intoxicating mists of a nargileh accord, a soaring alliance of smoky, tobacco, amber and fruity notes around scorched woods, velvety peach and vibrant incense."
Belle d'Opium has been inspired by the creative vision of Stefano Pilati, Artistic Director of Yves Saint Lauren, while the film and theatre actress Mélanie Thierry has been chosen to be the face of the fragrance. She recently received the César award for Most Promising Young Actress and a film 'The Princess of Montpensier' in which she plays the leading role, was shown in competition at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the new ROUGE PUR COUTURE lipstick range comes in 18 shades and is described as 'a celebration of life in all of its facets' with these shades inspiring emotions 'from the most delicate to the most extreme'.
Yves Saint Laurent Creative Director Stefano Pilati said: ""Red is a heroic colour. Not violent. Strong.
I associate it with love. With those who ravage all. The head, the body. Of all the colours, it is the most irrational, the least politically correct. It is never quiet. It shouts right through you."
The new lipsticks are packaged in new-gold coloured cases designed by Pilati, while Yannick Vaudry, Creation and Development Advisor for Yves Saint Laurent explained the background to the creation of the new range: "The idea was to redefine the Yves Saint Laurent red - to create an attitude enhancer. It is not one red, but a play on a fiery triple accord, associating red, orange and fuchsia.
Because red at Yves Saint Laurent is above all a rhythm, a composition to accompany a woman."
LUMINOSITY OF THREE COMPLEXIONS
He added: "I have diluted and nuanced these three intense and saturated colors with the unique luminosity of three complexions: black skin, light skin and olive skin. A woman's radiance is precious. Using this alchemy we obtained sixteen shades, each a reflection of a personality, the many facets of a woman. To these shades we added a completely original and lightly incandescent white lipstick
that can be superimposed, for example, to soften a pink.
And a 'cola' brown, similar to a non-black, which doesn't bury the smile's radiance. The white and the black shades play across the entire collection, creating infinite variations of red.
"At Yves Saint Laurent, a high concentration of pigment is one of our signatures. A red is never flat. Even in a Beige Étrusque, there is light, something that shines from within."
The range of new shades is as follows: Le Orange; Rouge Feu; Brun Sienne; Rouge Roxane; Rose Dahlia; Noir Laque; Le Fuchsia; Belle De Rose; Rose Stiletto; Beige Tribute; Rose Carnation; Blanc; Rouge Pourpre; Rouge Saadi; Rouge Vermillon; Beige Etrusque; Rose Bergamasque; and Le Rouge.
