'King Of Cognacs' at HKIA
By Doug Newhouse, 25 July 2010

Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail has joined forces with Hong Kong International Airport liquor and tobacco concessionaire Sky Connection to create the first permanent display of its super premium LOUIS XIII de Rémy Martin Cognac in Asia.

Dubbed the 'king of Cognacs', LOUIS XIII is now prominently displayed with its luxurious red gift box in a prestigious silver gondola and a premium pillar display in both flagship stores on the departures level.

The company says that 'knowledgeable' brand ambassadors add to the impact of the displays and offer customers the opportunity to learn more about an historic Cognac which is said to represent a century in a bottle.

LOUIS XIII de Rémy Martin, which is described as 'the most exclusive Cognac in the world' is a blend of 1,200 eaux-de-vie aged between forty and a hundred years - all of which emanate from the finest Grande Champagne delimited vineyards in the Cognac region.

The brand - created by Paul-Emile Rémy Martin and first registered in 1874 - is aged in tierçons which are century-old casks made from Limousin oak.

'TREMENDOUS RESPONSE...'
Commenting on the new initiative at HKIA, Baker Salleh, Ceo Sky Connection said: "Sky Connection is very proud to be the first in Asia to feature the Rémy Martin LOUIS XIII Fortress. To be a stage showcasing this super premium Cognac, with its proud heritage and excellent name-recognition among our customers, is our mission. The response has been tremendous." [Last May, Baker Salleh told TREND that high disposable income mainland PRC passengers are major customers for LOUIS XIII de Rémy Martin Cognac-Ed].

Peter Sant, Managing Director Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail said: "Rémy Martin has established an excellent reputation in the Asian markets, particularly among Chinese customers who value the heritage and quality of the brand. We are delighted to be able to create a LOUIS XIII universe at Hong Kong International which is a hub airport of pivotal importance to the region."

Baker Salleh, Peter Sant, and Michael Yuen and Christina Cheng of Airport Authority Hong Kong were among the guests of honour at the official opening ceremony on Tuesday July 13.
