BA man charged on terrorism
By Doug Newhouse, 12 March 2010

British Airways IT employee Rajib Karim has been charged on three counts of plotting to take part in suicide bombings and planning to gain access to aircraft as a member of cabin crew during a proposed BA strike. The Bangladesh-born 30-year old man was charged yesterday with planning suicide bombings and his own martyrdom and working with terrorism contacts in Pakistan and Yemen.

Westminster Magistrates' Court was told yesterday that Karim was able to get a passport and he obtained a job with British Airways before Christmas with the specific intention of becoming a temporary member of cabin crew during a planned strike to obtain access to an aircraft. This strike was ultimately called off after a court declared it illegal.

Karim is also charged with obtaining monies and passing it on to terrorism associates overseas. He is now being held in custody until the case is heard at the Old Bailey in London.
