Gatwick shows good growth
By Doug Newhouse, 11 March 2010

London Gatwick Airport handled a total of just over 2m passengers in February 2010, an increase of 3.2%, with its most important traffic sector -European scheduled traffic - up 10.5% to 927,700 passengers and 'other long haul' traffic up 7% to 405,400 passengers.

Domestic traffic also exhibited year on year growth of 4.7% and traffic for the rolling 12-month period finished -3.8% down on the previous 12 months, driven largely by seven consecutive months of declining year-on-year traffic at the beginning of the period.

Air transport movements recorded good growth of 3.5% against February 2009, further illustrating London Gatwick Airport's recovery from the economic downturn.

Cargo tonnage grew for the fourth consecutive month, but remains down on a rolling 12-month basis.
