Shenzhen Airport reports passenger boom
By Doug Newhouse, 10 March 2010

The Shenzhen Airport Company has reported that its net profits rose by an impressive 134.92% year-on-year to CY.575m ($84m) in 2009 - a result it attributes to the 14.4% increase in passenger numbers to 24.4m that used the airport last year.

The airport, based in south China's Guangdong Province said that total business revenue was up by 9.69% to CY.1.66bn ($243m) last year, up 9.69% compared to 2008.

Quoting figures released in February by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the company added that China's air travel market grew by 19.79% in 2009 despite the global downturn, with China's airports handling 486m passengers.
