MCM makes Americas' debut with Peace Arch
By Doug Newhouse, 12 February 2010

MCM is offering a core selection from its Spring Summer 2010 collection at the Peace Arch retail store on the Canadian/US border at Surrey in British Columbia. MCM says this is a breakthrough into The Americas' market for the company.

The modest 5sq m unit opened on February 6 and offers a core selection from MCM's Spring Summer 2010 collection including Alda in black, white and ash purple; Ivana Patent in black; Amazoness in black and white; Havana in black and grey; Pop Python in black and lavender pink; Marble Visetos in blue; Flower Breeze in white/blue and Cognac/white/yellow and Semi Visetos in white. A variety of bag shapes are being offered, along with a variety of small leather goods including clutch bags and wallets with detachable chains.

Gerry Munday, MCM Global Travel Retail Director said: "This is an extremely important step forward for MCM, marking our first travel retail listing within the Americas and the first time the brand has been sold within Canada."

In the US domestic market, MCM is present in 25 Saks locations, five Bloomingdales, and with its own store at The Plaza, New York. Another self-owned store is due to open in Beverley Hills early in 2011. "We're extremely pleased to have this new presence with Peace Arch. They have a fabulous outlet and we are alongside other prestigious fashion, watch and jewellery brands such as Cartier, Bulgari, Omega, Gucci, and Lacoste," said Munday.
