Diageo promotes Springer
By Doug Newhouse, 8 February 2010

Diageo Global Travel (GTME) has strengthened its Executive Board with the appointment of Sara Springer as Innovation Director, after leading the innovation function within GTME for more than three years.

Phil Humphreys, Managing Director Diageo GTME said he was delighted with the appointment: "Sara has shown remarkable leadership of the innovation function within GTME for more than three years. Passion, commitment and energy have always been hallmarks of her approach and it's unthinkable that GTME could achieve its goals without a strong voice for innovation and gifting at our top table and Sara has clearly earned her place there."

The company added that innovation and gifting are central components of Diageo's ambition to double the size of the liquor category from $6bn to $12bn within five years. It says the recent successes of Baileys Coffee, The John Walker and Johnnie Walker Double Black, in conjunction with significant developments in gifting, are examples of Sara Springer's impact on the business.

Commenting on her appointment, Sara Springer said: "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to lead our ambitions in Innovation and Gifting as part of the senior strategic team in GTME. I'm truly motivated by having such an enviable portfolio of brands and a great team ready to continue their development and the way in which they are presented."
