Rado launches new watch models
By Doug Newhouse, 9 December 2009

Premium watchmaker Rado Switzerland has launched a range of new models which include the Sintra Automatic Matt, the r5.5., the Gold Paillette and the Ceramica Gold.

Available in three sizes in black matt ceramics, the Swiss made Sintra Automatic Matt is the newest addition to Rado's established award-winning Sintra collection. The company says by utilising its 'unrivalled knowledge of high-tech ceramics', it has once again produced a timepiece where comfort and luxury come as standard.

The company said: "Agile. Robust. The striking and definitive design of the barrel-shaped case and bracelet is highlighted by the fusion of seemingly endless curves and lines.

"The black convex case of the Sintra Automatic displays simple yet bold indexes. The circle forms and is joined by the date at six o'clock whilst all the time capturing and playing with the light from the sapphire crystal surrounding it. Turn over and the new automatic movement is clearly visible. Precise. Simple. Functional."

r.5.5 COLLECTION
In addition it has also introduced the r5.5 which it describes as 'a stunning new collection' using its pioneering high technology ceramics techniques which have been famous for more than 20 years.

The company said: "Unpretentious and unassuming. Drawing on its unrivalled knowledge of the material, Rado has produced a range of timepieces that are designed to become a part of who you are. Absolute comfort is the ultimate luxury. Instinctive. Natural. A synthesis of two talents. A watch, all in high-tech ceramics, designed by Jasper Morrison. A true reflection of his signature style.

"Integration of the forms has always been a preoccupation for Rado. Today again, with this wistful aesthetic model. A distinctive square silhouette with curved edges, of which the radius gave the collection its name. Sensual. Sophisticated. The case exquisitely and expertly fuses into the bracelet and the links gradually reduce so it appears as one, perfectly hugging the wrist."

Rado describes this as a chronograph reduced to the essential, with three hands, two counters, the date at 3 o'clock and all under the flat sapphire crystal with activation provided through the curved rectangular ceramic pushers.

The company adds: "The steel coloured indexes and hands with white luminous sparkle together with the sunbrushed finish of the dial, a continuous entrancing and alluring play of light.

"The basic models feature only the minimum, the fundamental. Three hands, date at 3 o'clock, gently lying under flat sapphire crystal and activated by the ceramic crown. The white luminous hands are brought to life by the stunning black sunbrushed dial. Captivating. Irresistible."

The company says that this model is deliberately only available in one size in black matt ceramics.

INTEGRAL GOLD PAILLETTE
Meanwhile, Rado says that Gold Paillette is the latest addition to its renowned and distinctive Integral collection.

The company said: "Refinement and finesse have always been signature elements of the collection, and the Gold Paillette is no exception. Perfectly elegant in gold, the colour highlights the sleek linearity of the watch. The bracelet is perfectly formed. A single curve, a fluid design, its seamless flow into a face of flawless sapphire crystal gently embraces the wrist.

"Unique. Captivating. Integrated into the case are the copper coated paillettes, delicate and sparkling with the light under the gently curved crystal. Simply two hands and a calender at six o'clock give the timepiece its finishing touches. The use of high-tech ceramics by Rado allow the Integral Gold Paillette to be enjoyed with the utmost of comfort and luxury."

CERAMICA GOLD
Last, but not least, Rado Switzerland has also added a new design to its famous Ceramica watch with Ceramica Gold.

Entirely ceramic since 1989, Rado says that the Ceramica watch was one step ahead in recognizing what was then an unfamiliar material, and it marked its era with 'audacious design' and 'perfectly integrated elements'.

The company said: "Now an uncontested icon, the new Ceramica presents this innovative material in an original golden hue that is both exceptional and exclusive. It is the fruit of long and intense research into obtaining a sparkling, light brilliance that is just as inalterable as before.

"The dial, crystal, case and strap extend and combine in a fluid and seemingly endless line around the wrist, forming perfectly integrated shapes that are fragmented and strengthened in turn by contrasts in black and gold. This signatory play on colours is a token of the Rado brand.

"The deep black of the dial is highlighted by deliberately simple golden hands, and in some models, by a date display at six o'clock. On the chronograph model, counters form different-sized circles, while the Jubilé versions are adorned with a subtly-balanced arrangement of comets set with scintillating yellow sapphires.

"Refinement morphs into monochromatic sensuality on a dial set entirely with concentric circles of gems, like a heat wave moving out from the date display under a sapphire crystal metalized with gold."

This is available in seven models – S, M, XL, XL Jubilé, Chronograph, Chronograph Jubilé and XL Pavé.
