P&O's 'best-kept secret'
By Doug Newhouse, 22 November 2009
P&O Ferries - recently voted UK ferry company of the year at the British Travel Awards - says its 'best-kept secret' for cross-Channel Dover-Calais bargain hunting this Christmas is it's 'Car Park Shopper' service where customers can literally park their vehicles on the company's ships while they shop until they drop on the French side.
The company says that customers on a four hour return trip can now pay a nominal sum of £10 to leave their car onboard, leaving 'ample time' to take advantage of offshore shopping at the low French rates of duty on board.
The company said: "Factor in the company's purchasing power as one of the largest offshore retailers in the world, and forget about the strength of the euro because
P&O Ferries prices in pounds.
'It all adds up to some excellent bargains. For example - Piper Heidsieck Champagne at two for £30; two litres of Courvoisier brandy for £35, Gallo wine boxes at £16 for two; six bottles of Jacob's Creek wine for £15."
P&O adds that it is also selling leading top brand fragrances "up to 40% cheaper than on the [UK] High Street, and discounted fashion brands currently include
sunglasses by Gucci, Prada and Police, plus bags by Radley, Guess and Fiorelli.
P&O Ferries was recently voted ferry company of the year at the British Travel Awards, after picking up the supporting awards for best short sea ferry operator and best cross-Channel operator.
