It can be confirmed that there is now planning permission for tolls to be in place on the A249 heading off and on the Isle Of Sheppey.

MP Gordon Henderson, of Sheppey told us that the planning process will be in place by Febuary 2018.

Henderson told us ' With so many vehicles coming on and off the Island, i believe that we can make a substantial amount of money from drivers using the Sheppey crossing. Into which this money will help with future development for the residents on Sheppey.'

However one resident, Claire O'brian, 67 from Warden Bay, stated ' I think this is a diabolical idea. What on earth is this guy thinking. There wont be any future development here at all. I have lived here for 58 years and all i see is warehouses and more homes! Nothing for teenagers or children. I have a right mind to express my views and Mr Henderson is atrocious when it comes to planning procedures.'

Prices for the tolls start as little as £2.00 for Motorbikes. And for Artic lorries they would be £5.00.

Are you a resident of Sheppey? Would you like to have your say?
