A 20 year old male student was left critically injured on Loughborough Road after being mugged in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He is currently in intensive care and is unable to speak with police.
It is believed his iPhone and wallet was taken, just yards from the Wolds pub, after returning from a night out.
Police are surveying CCTV in the area and are pleading for witnesses. They urge students and local residents to be vigilant of muggers and not go around alone at night.
