The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have signed Russian goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov to a three-year, $4.7 million contract. This signing was made after Philadelphia announced they traded Brian Elliott to the Colorado Avalance for a 2019 third round pick.

During Bryzgalov’s tenure in Philadelphia, he finished with a 52-33-10 record averaging a save percentage of .900 and a 2.50 GAA.

His original contract in Philadelphia was atrocious after he was signed to a nine-year, $51 million contract. It wasn’t long before Paul Holmgren decided to buy out his contract before the start of 2013-14.

A second round draft pick of the Anahein Ducks, Bryzgalov has experience with other clubs. While his best playing days were in the former city of Phoenix, he looks to get his career back on track as the backup to Michal Neuvirth in the City of Brotherly Love.
