The small community of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, is the site of several large changes and set to grow again. With the planned open pit mine, on Grassy Mountain, by Riversdale Resources, this will provide another coal mining "boom" to the struggling Crowsnest Pass. As a result, the Pass is being eyed by several major companies, as a place to set up shop.

United States supermarket chain Kroger is set to break ground in the most southwestern community of Alberta. "We have done the research and conducted several panels of locals, and have determined that this community is the right place for us to open up our very first Canadian Kroger supermarket," says company representative Itsalla Jokonyu.

As well, US Ross Stores, Inc., an American chain of "off-price" department stores headquartered in Dublin, California, officially operating under the brandname, Ross Dress for Less, is in the process of talks, with local council in both Pincher Creek and Crowsnest Pass, to determine which location would best suit the placement of the their first venture into the Canadian market.

If all goes right and Ross goes ahead with the Crowsnest location, this would open the way for Canadian company Westjet to look into flying into either Pincher Creek or opening an airport in the Pass. They would provide economical local flights back and forth to some US and Canadian locations. Confirmed by company representative Alma Dup.
